shades

Have you heard of the dangers of dangling cords and small children? Just past September, 2010 a DC area toddler entangled himself in cords hung near his crib and died. Don’t let this happen to your family! From now until the end of April 2011, we are offering a 10% discount for honeycomb (cellular) shades ordered with the cordless option.

We sell Kathy Ireland by Alta products in the MD/DC area, from our Silver Spring office. The cordless shades provide the BEST safety protection for your children, most energy efficient (compared to wood blinds and roller shades) AND can be ordered with the blackout lining  (to keep bedrooms dark) as well.

These shades are budget friendly, come with a lifetime warranty and are made by a national manufacturer. We utilize a local expert installer who can remove existing shades and replace with the cordless honeycombs very easily.

And if you are or represent a property management company, remodeler or local developer looking to update existing products in your units, we can offer a volume discount for multiple units!  Contact us today!

Over the past two months, we have been working with DC’s Ace Hardware stores, supplying in-home decorating consultations for blinds and shades. Condo owners in Logan Circle, Mount Vernon/Gallery Place, U Street,  and Tenleytown have all expressed interest in those shades like the ones seen below:

The three longer shades on the bottom feature the top down/bottom up option – which allows the owners to open the shade from top AND the bottom of the window.  This option is available on both the honeycomb shades AND the woven wood shades (matchstick blinds) in various sizes.   The top down/bottom up option is quite handy for blocking the view from the street from first to 3rd floor units and filtering the sun for those with east or west facing windows.

If you have recently moved into a new condo in Logan Circle, U Street, Mount Vernon/Gallery Place or Tenleytown, or anywhere in DC and feel like you are living in a fishbowl or sauna (or both) contact us! We would be happy to bring samples and discuss options in your condo.   Not only will it make your DC condo more bearable, but it will lower your heating and cooling bill almost immediately!

You have had it with the paper shades…but not really feeling the wood or faux wooden blinds for your condo.   You have been searching all over for a modern alternative but unsure what to select.  Well…

Your search is over!! We have just joined forces with DC’s Ace hardware stores, in assisting them to offer Hunter Douglas (R) products to the DC community.  There are plenty of modern and contemporary shades and blinds options – for a reasonable cost.  And we can install them too!  Check out a few options below!

Easy breezy Designer Screen shades, with header

Easy breezy Designer Roller shades, with silver head rail

The shades shown to the right provide a great option for condo owners to help reduce the impact of the sun’s strong UV rays, yet keep the light feel in a room. Yes, you can purchase these shades with the silver headrail and have them installed either with corded loop or even motorized, on a remote control for less fuss! Lots of colors are available to complement your decor.

Matchstick blinds work well with natural textures like exposed brick

Woven woods work well with textures like exposed brick

The common name for the blinds shown here are ‘matchstick blinds’. We know them as Woven Woods and are available in natural woods like bamboo, reeds, or grasses. These can even be lined to help darken rooms, if that is your desire. These shades work nicely in rooms with exposed brick or stone and complement hardwood floors nicely too!

Check these shades out in person at Tenleytown’s Ace hardware or 5th Street Ace or else submit a request for a designer consultation for your condo!

Remember the most expensive shade is the one you have to replace. Get it done right the first time!
